November 2018

11/24/18 We are in Crystal River, Florida for a few days. We are staying at the Crystal Isles RV Resort. We tried to stay at Shell Mound State Park but it was full. We are paying a LOT more for this campground, but it isn't very nice. One of the two bath houses is closed and locked, replaced with two, dirty porta potties. The grounds are messy and the sites are tiny. We won't stay here again.

Yesterday we left Perry KOA in Perry Florida. It was great! We could tell that a lot of work was being done there with more work to come, but the place was very pleasant! The owners, Brian and Debbie, bought the campground in March of this year and have made lots of improvements. They are very helpful, spending several hours trying to help our neighbor fix an electrical problem in their trailer on Thanksgiving Day!

11/18/18 We have spent the last three nights in Mc Calla, AL. We are at the Tannehill Ironworks Park campground. This is a very historic park. The ironworks were built in the lat 1800's and were used to make steel for the Confederate Army during the Civil War.

11-13-18 We are on the road again! Right now we are in Buena Vista, Virginia. We arrived yesterday at about 2:00 and spent last night here. We leave tomorrow.

We saw an interesting bumper sticker in Virginia.

Sunday night we spent the night at the Echo Valley Campground in Tremont, PA. It was OK, but the owner isn't very nice. The bathrooms were locked and we had to call to get someone to unlock them. Our electric connection didn't work. Monday morning, our water hydrant was frozen so we had no water and Bob couldn't turn off the valve in the ground. We left before the office opened and called them to let them know that the valve was open. The owner was very angry with Bob, telling him we should have known it would freeze and unhooked our water hose before we went to bed. Really? She didn't say anything about it when we checked in; there were no signs, etc. I checked the campground reviews and most said the owners were very rude. They are.

Our plan was to volunteer on the Florida Panhandle for a week or so, but it turns out that the group we were going to doesn't allow any dogs on the camp grounds. I'm checking other places now.

We will be in Bowling Green, Florida at the Pioneer Creek RV Resort on December 1 to spend the winter with my Dad. He and my brother, Kenny, bought a trailer there and Dad will spend the winter in the warm weather for the first time!
